ChatGPT 5: New Personalities, Enhanced Voice, and Integration with Google and Gmail
Major Upcoming Updates to ChatGPT from OpenAI
Model Selector Removal and GPT-5 Improvements

Model Selector Removal: OpenAI has announced major upcoming updates to ChatGPT, including visual changes and performance enhancements for the chatbot. Among the most notable changes is the elimination of the model selector, as ChatGPT will now default to GPT-5, with an automatic switching system that combines previous models into a single, faster, and smarter model. However, ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team users will still be able to switch between GPT-5 and GPT-5 Thinking, and Pro and Team users will have access to GPT-Thinking Pro.
New ChatGPT Personas

Text Response Personas: Another significant update is the addition of four new "personas" for text responses: "Pessimist" (sarcastic and direct), "Robot" (precise and efficient), "Listener" (friendly and calm), and "Obsessed" (playful and curious). Users can switch to the default style if they don't like these personas.
Enhancing "Vibe Coding" Capabilities

Vibe Coding Enhancement: The "vibe coding" capabilities have seen significant improvement, with GPT-5 now better at handling complex and descriptive prompts to create applications or websites, along with the ability to interact with a preview of what has been created via Canvas.
User Interface (UI) Customization

Customization Options: New UI customizations allow for changing the accent color of chat bubbles, the voice button, and highlighted text. These settings can be accessed via the profile icon, then "Settings" then "General" on the web, or "Personalization" then "Color Scheme" on mobile.
Advanced Voice Mode Updates
Voice Enhancements: ChatGPT's advanced voice mode will receive an update for paid users, making it better at understanding instructions and allowing for modification of speaking style. The standard voice mode will be discontinued, and OpenAI will offer "nearly unlimited" usage of the advanced voice mode for paid users, and additional usage hours for free users. The advanced voice mode will now also work with custom GPTs.
Integration with Gmail and Google Calendar
Service Integration: Finally, OpenAI has made it easier to link Gmail and Google Calendar accounts with ChatGPT. ChatGPT will prompt you to link your account when you enter prompts such as "help me plan my schedule tomorrow," and after linking, ChatGPT will use your schedule and messages to plan your day, report missed emails, and more. This feature will be available to Pro users next week, with other tiers following later.
