Dyson, a leader in innovative home appliances, announced the launch of its latest innovation: the Spot+Scrub Ai robot. This device, representing Dyson's first integrated robotic vacuum and mop, was unveiled at the IFA technology trade show in Berlin. The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot features a modern circular design and is an evolution of its predecessor, the Dyson 360 VisNav robotic vacuum, which the company launched in 2023.

Key Features and Technologies

The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot incorporates a suite of advanced technologies to ensure superior and effective cleaning. Among its most prominent features are a self-cleaning rotating mop, a precise navigation system based on LiDAR technology, and Dyson's first-of-its-kind multi-functional dock. The device earns its "Ai" (Artificial Intelligence) moniker from its exceptional ability to accurately detect and identify spots. Dyson states that the robot's integrated cameras, in conjunction with a green laser that highlights dirt, enable it to "identify spots, respond to them, verify their removal, and clean them effectively." Thanks to these intelligent technologies, the robot can differentiate between dry and wet stains, and then apply the appropriate continuous cleaning method until they are completely eliminated, providing deep and effective floor cleaning.

Improved Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance

The capabilities of the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot are not limited to spot cleaning; it also possesses the ability to "detect" and avoid objects scattered on floors such as socks and cables. To enhance navigation performance, Dyson has updated its navigation system, abandoning the vision-based technology used in the Vis Nav model and replacing it with more advanced LiDAR technology, which addresses previous navigation issues and ensures smooth and precise movement of the robot throughout the home.

Suction Power and Smart Mopping System

The Spot+Scrub Ai robot boasts exceptional suction power of up to 18,000 Pascals, which automatically increases when carpet is detected thanks to a built-in sensor, ensuring deep and ideal cleaning for carpets and rugs. For wet cleaning, the robot relies on a rotating mop made of ultra-soft and long microfibers, effectively extending to clean edges with high precision. This mop is complemented by a combined rubber and bristle brush positioned behind it, which skillfully picks up dry dirt. It is worth noting that the rotating mop automatically lifts when the robot passes over carpets, to keep them completely dry and avoid any unwanted wetting.

Multi-Functional Charging and Cleaning Dock

Dyson's multi-functional dock is a valuable addition and a fundamental pillar for a comprehensive and convenient cleaning experience, as it automates many routine tasks. This dock automatically empties the robot's dustbin, hygienically cleans and dries the mop to ensure its constant readiness, in addition to refilling clean water tanks and draining dirty water. The dock features a large, bagless 2-liter dustbin, which is larger than the integrated bin in the Vis Nav model, and can be emptied with complete ease with a single press of a button over a waste bin, providing maximum cleanliness and convenience.

App Control and Smart Home Connectivity

To enhance user experience and provide full control, the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot seamlessly integrates with the redesigned MyDyson app. This app, thanks to its LiDAR navigation system, provides a real-time view of the cleaning progress, giving the user complete control and visibility over the robot's path and the spots that have been cleaned. The app also allows for scheduling cleaning tasks and selecting various cleaning modes, including: vacuuming only, vacuuming and mopping together, mopping only, or a cleaning cycle that starts with vacuuming followed by mopping. Additionally, the app displays spots that the robot has successfully detected and addressed. In a future step, Dyson plans to support Matter technology, which will enable the Spot+Scrub Ai to connect and integrate with leading smart home platforms such as Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home, allowing for voice control and a wide range of other smart features that simplify daily life.

Availability

Regarding availability, the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot is expected to launch in the Chinese market later this year (2025), followed by its launch in the United States in 2026, allowing users in both regions to soon benefit from this innovative home cleaning technology.
