Rockstar Founder's Warning: AI Could Crash Like "Mad Cow Disease"
Dan Hauser's Views on the Future of Artificial Intelligence

Dan Hauser, co-founder of Rockstar and the creative mind behind games like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, expressed his views on artificial intelligence during an interview on Virgin Radio UK. Hauser voiced pessimism regarding the long-term prospects of AI, stating his personal belief that it will not achieve sustainable positive outcomes, but rather, AI will gradually consume itself.
Artificial Intelligence and the 'Mad Cow Disease' Phenomenon in Data

Hauser likened the reliance of artificial intelligence systems on online data—an increasing portion of which will be generated by AI itself—to the phenomenon of "Mad Cow Disease", where "cows are fed cows". He explained that AI might excel in performing certain tasks brilliantly, but it lacks the capacity to master all tasks comprehensively, especially those requiring genuine human creativity.
Criticism of Executives and 'AI Bubble' Concerns

Hauser also sharply criticized executives who excessively promote artificial intelligence, suggesting that they "may lack sufficient humanity or creativity". He expressed concern that leading figures are forcefully pushing for the adoption of this technology, but noted a growing number of voices considering artificial intelligence as a potential "bubble" in the market.
